The Foresight Foundry

Three Paths to the Future

Onsite only

Is your strategy ready for the 2030s?

When everything keeps changing, trend analyses become obsolete within a few months. Simple 2×2 matrices for mapping a hoped-for future don’t work either. To truly guide your organization, you need to move beyond the obvious and master the art of deep foresight.

Welcome to The Foresight Foundry—a rigorous 90-minute "meta-workshop" for experienced professionals. This is an interactive workout where you will learn not one, but three powerful foresight methodologies by applying them to a single, compelling challenge:
What is the future of the (virtual) personal assistant in an AI-driven world?

After a brief introduction, you will choose your path by joining one of three tables, each led by a seasoned Strategic Foresight practitioner.

  • Create foresight with Causal Layer Analysis
A powerful method to uncover the hidden worldviews and metaphors driving change, moving far beyond surface-level trends.
  • Map consequences with the Futures Wheel
A creative tool to brainstorm the direct and indirect consequences of a major shift, revealing surprising second- and third-order impacts.
  • Design the future with Backcasting
A pragmatic approach that starts with a desirable future state and works backward to define the necessary steps to get there from today.

Three lenses. One challenge. Genuinely surprising results.

The Climax: The Structured, Comparative Debrief

The real learning happens in the final 30 minutes. When the three groups come back together, the facilitators lead a discussion where you compare what each group discovered. You will see how different methods lead to different insights about the same question.

This helps reveal hidden assumptions, possible consequences, and practical actions. The result is a deeper and more balanced view of the future than any single method could provide.

Key Take Aways

  • Practical/Hands-on experience using three different foresight methods.
  • A deeper understanding of business change.
  • A clear idea of when to use each method in your own strategic discussions.
  • An online resource pack with templates and guides to help you apply these methods in your organization.
