Rainer Michaeli Director Institute for Competitive Intelligence

Rainer Michaeli is an internationally recognized leader in Competitive Intelligence (CI). Trained as an aeronautical engineer at the University of Brunswick and MBA-educated at INSEAD, he began his career in the defense and IT industries before founding DIE DENKFABRIK GmbH in 1993, a global consultancy specializing in competitive and market intelligence.

In 2004, he established the Institute for Competitive Intelligence (ICI), now one of the world’s leading CI education providers, where he serves as Managing Director. He is an adjunct lecturer at THM University (Germany) and a Visiting Professor at the Bucharest Business School, and founder of the Deutsches Competitive Intelligence Forum, Germany’s leading CI association.

A former board member of SCIP, he has been honored with its Catalyst and Fellow awards. His textbook Competitive Intelligence became a Financial Times Germany Top 3 bestseller.
